Who sets the host fees?

Each host sets their own weekly rent. We do not set, regulate, or recommend any specific amount. The rent is entirely at the host's discretion and is agreed directly between the host and the guest before moving in.

Typical rent range

Room rental prices in Australia vary widely depending on:

  • Location and proximity to the city centre, public transport, and universities
  • Whether bills are included (electricity, gas, water, internet)
  • Whether the room is furnished or unfurnished
  • Whether the guest has a private or shared bathroom
  • The size and quality of the room

What does the rent typically include?

Some rooms are advertised as bills included — meaning the weekly rent covers utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Others are bills excluded, where those costs are shared on top of the rent. The listing will indicate which applies. If you are unsure, ask the host directly before agreeing to anything.

Tip for guests: Before accepting an offer, confirm in writing exactly what is included in the rent, how bills are split if not included, and the payment schedule. Use the messaging system so everything is on record.
